The restoration of old or damaged canvas books includes the dismantling of the body of the book and the installation of a new cover as close as possible to the original. Different steps are necessary to restore the main body of a book: dismantling of the old cover, notching and laying of linen thread if necessary, laying of guards, modeling of the joint, consolidation using a singalette three threads, sizing.
